#CAKE FINAL VIDEO

#cake is the result of the #makescript project, a twitter campaign where I asked audiences for ideas and inspiration to make a film. I wanted to explore how to involve audiences at the beginning of the creative process.

As a filmmaker and storyteller I fancied the idea of creating relevant meaningful content in 140 seconds. #cake was developed on twitter with the constrain of 140 characters, I wanted to bring this constrain to the production of the video.

OPEN CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Announcing an open call for tweets that will be the basis of a screenplay for a less than 2 min video to be produced by filmmaker Jose Muniain @_MakeMedia

What happens when we create within a 140-character constraint?

What happens when many voices come together in the Twittersphere to form one digital product? Imagine: we can transcend geographic, social, and cultural boundaries to create a piece of art.

THE LAUNCH

Friday Feb 12
At 10 am the call opens:
Tweet the synopsis or seedling of your short film idea in 140 characters or less.
The film must be a contemporary story with 2-3 characters.
This call will end at 6pm Saturday February 13.

We’re looking for story kernels, lines to use, insights and discoveries about our city, about characters—we’re looking for user-generated material that pushes the limits of storytelling.

We’re looking for what you have to say.

THE DEVELOPMENT

Three story semifinalists will be announced at 10am on Tuesday, February 16, and the Twitter call for Phase Two will begin:
Each morning for a week we will provide a prompt designed to grow scenes, characters, locations, dialogue, and more, of the three semifinalist stories. This Phase 2 call is again open to everyone.

THE FINALE

At the end of the submission period, we will choose one finalist thread to produce. The winner will participate in development of a shooting script and production of a dynamic, short-form digital film.

THE SCREENING

The film will be unveiled in a screening hosted by the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council in May 2016.
